Our group conducts multi-scale theoretical and computational research at the intersection of biology and physics, investigating systems from individual molecules and viruses to complex cells, tissues, and organisms. We complement these biophysical inquiries with foundational concepts from soft condensed matter physics, with a particular emphasis on developing minimal computational and theoretical models to understand different processes across scales. Strongly integrated into the international scientific community, our group actively drives global collaborations through joint publications, bilateral research networks, international event organization, and academic exchange programs.
J. Rozman, in collaboration with researchers at the University of Lisbon and Oxford University, published the article Multi-Phase Field Model Reveals Internal Dissipation is Crucial for Spontaneous Hole Formation in Cell Monolayers in Nature Communications
M. Šako and M. Kanduč, in collaboration with researchers from Germany and the USA, published the article How Lipids Suppress Cavitation in Biological Fluids in Journal of Colloid and Interface Science
J. Rozman was awarded an RSF START project entitled “Nematric or polar epithelia: what causes cell turbulence? (NOPE)”
